Colonel Devereux's Regiment - Events

Devereux’s takes part in several types of events:

Majors- the English Civil War Society comes together two to four times a year to take part in large battle displays with as many as 1000 participants fighting on the field. Cavalry, artillery and of course the regiments of infantry all take part in these weekend long events

Regimental Invited events- the are often much smaller events and very often have a mixed military and civilian theme to them. Sometimes there will be a story line based around the activities of the regiments (and invited regiments) activities.  These events give the regimental members the opportunity to display their period civilian skills such as cooking and embroidery.

Multi Group events – sometimes we are asked by events contractors to work with other societies to put on specialist events. We have worked alongside the Sealed Knot for various organisations such as English Heritage, The National Trust and CADW

Moseley Old Hall 18th-19th May Living history, drill display and training

June

Bolsover Castle 8th-9th June. A siege event

July

Delapre Abbey, Northampton 6th-7th July. Our main event of the year, with living history, drill and firing displays

Marlborough 27th-28th July. A major battle to capture the town

August

Great Chalfield Manor 10th-11th August. A living history event with fighting for the house against Winchester’s Regiment

Gloucester 25th-26th August. A major battle in defence of the city

Malmesbury Carnival 31st August. Our annual march through the town that the original regiment garrisoned in the Civil War.

September

Dunbar- 14th-15th September. A major battle with reenactors from all over the country
